TEACHING ASSIGNMENT FOR CRISIS COMMUNICATION AND CRISIS MANAGEMENT
#CRISISCOMMUNICATION #CRISISMANAGEMENT
TASK

Since 2017, Katja Rieger (Co-Founder xponential) and Bettina Gebhardt have been running a one-day course once a year: CAS Law, Regulation and Risk Management at the ZHAW School of Management and Law, in Winterthur. This course is aimed at employees with professional experience in the insurance sector.

SOLUTION

Out of the comfort zone, into the crisis. Our first action on Saturday mornings around 7.20am is to remove the seating in the classroom and divide the participants into small groups.

As part of our course, all participants solve a crisis case during the course of the day. This is a real challenge, as it covers all facets of a crisis. It is not only about well-thought-out crisis communication and the right storytelling. We also teach crisis management in our course – an important component that enables participants to negotiate properly with authorities, financial bodies, regulators and customers and to involve employees as important ambassadors. A crisis comes suddenly, directly, and with full/extreme force. Practical experience is essential to ensure that every move is right. We convey this through our complementary and thus comprehensive know-how.
